5/27/11 FR Lola (FC1) had 7 of Young's Indiana Thornton's kits

One of these has a problem with it's eye. The pupil is not centered in the iris, & it looks like he's crosseyed.

Took a buck (F2LI3) and the Doe (FLI6) to the NY State Fair. The Buck won BOB, the doe was DQ'd because of mismatched toenails. The pair was sold to Margaret Burdick.

8/21 Took the cross-eyed buck to the processor.

10/9 Sold F2LI2 & F2LI5 at King's auction. F2LI2 was the smallest buck in the litter, & F2LI5 did the worst at the shows.

2/26/12 Took F2LI4 to be sold at King's Auction. He was attacking anyone who put their hand in his cage. Made it very difficult to feed or water him.

Due to the difficulties involved we do not ship rabbits.
Special considerations for 4H and FFA

The Tree House Homestead

Located in the South Puget Sound near Tacoma and Olympia, WA. Our rabbitry is a small scale effort to promote this rare and critically endangered breed of livestock.

My first blog here

I have really been "into" rabbit raising this last year. I have pretty much always had various animals growing up, but this last 3 years I have had rabbits. More focused and particularly on the American Chinchilla breed in the last year. I decided that I wanted to keep an American Heritage breed of rabbit. I also wanted a rabbit that could function as a multi-purposed animal. Not just a pet but also for food and fur if I needed it and to be able to provide that type of livestock for other small-scale homesteader types as well.

To me, the American Chinchilla breed fits all of these categories quite nicely. First developed for the fur and meat industry of the 1920's, it has gone from being the most popular breed ever (still a record yet to be broken) to one of the rarest. You can see more at my personal website: www.thetreehousehomestead.com or also my blog site with articles at: www.exclusivelyrabbits.blogspot.com. Thanks to Bunnytrade so much for providing another forum for the support and promotion of various breeds and breeders!

4/27/11, FR Superior had 1 of 7PR Plastik's kits,

I put the one in w/Shawnee's. Although they're 10 days old, at least the 1 will be warm.

4/28 Superior had 8 more! Put the one that was in with Shawnee's back in with Superior's. Several of these are white.

Later in the week, we found one of the white ones in Superior's food dish. It did not survive.

8/16/11 Buck FS1 & Doe FS4 were in the Herkimer County Fair Open Rabbit Show. FS4 won BOB & FS1 won BOS!

The end of August, the kits were 18 weeks old when their pictures were taken. One of the REW does was sold to a family with 6 children! Nice pet & will make nice babies to have for dinner. FS3 was sold at the NYS Fair in Syracuse.

9/21 Took the REW buck to the processor.

10/1 FS4, the doe, won BIC at the Grand Finals Saturday AM show. This is her first leg toward Grand Champion. She was supposed to go to Oregon by way of Convention, so was named FR Trillium. She was to be traded for a Jr Doe. However, that trade did not happen.

10/9 Sold FS2 at King's Auction. He was very small. Read more »

3/20/11, FR Superior had 1 of Young's Indiana Thornton's kits, it died.

I was hoping that there were going to be more the next day. Since there were no more kits, I remated her with Plastik a while later.

11/28/10, 7DA Cloudy had 3 of 7PR Plastik’s kits. All died

This has happened with her last 3 litters, 3 in the litter, & they all died. :(
